AIRPORT & LOCAL TRANSPORTATION
Kahului Airport (OGG)
Arrival Tips
-
If picking up a car from a rental company (Hertz, Enterprise, Budget, etc..) cross the street directly opposite of baggage claim and board the tram which will take you to the rental car center.
-
If using Turo, coordinate with your Turo host to determine the pickup location of your car.
-
Hawaii has strict agricultural restrictions and each party is required to fill out a plants and animals declaration form upon arrival. Bring a pen to fill out the form on your flight!
Departure Tips
-
TSA starts to the right of baggage claim.
-
Plan to arrive at least 2 hours before your flight
-
The food options at the airport are limited so it is recommended to buy takeout on the island to bring on your flight.
Rental Cars
There are several rental car companies located at the OGG rental car center.
Shop around early for the best rates and availability.
Turo
We personally always use Turo when we visit Hawaii as there is a wide selection of vehicles at affordable rates. Be sure to communicate with your Turo host for pickup and dropoff and be respectful as often these are their personal vehicles for rent.
HOTELS & AIRBNB
The following listed are all close by to the venue for convenience. There are some great places to stay in other areas on the island such as Lahaina and Kaanapali but please keep in mind the drive may take around 45min - 1hour to Kihei depending on traffic.
Resorts
Offering a wide array of benefits, resorts often have many perks and amenities that are great for families or those who plan to spend more time at where they are staying. Resorts normally have pools and some offer excursions around the island and other curated experiences.
Hotels / Condos
These hotels still offer great amenities such as pool facilities without the extra costs associated with resorts.
Below are some popular choices.
AirBnb
Our go to choice is to stay in an AirBnB. Many are privately owned Condos and Apartments. Normally the most affordable options can be found on AirBnb.

THINGS TO DO
EXPLORE OTHER ISLANDS
If you have more than a week we also recommend flying to a major neighboring island for a totally new experience. Each island has a unique character and offers something for everyone!
Kauai
The "Garden Isle" is home to some of the most dramatic scenery in the South Pacific. This island is extremely green and full of nature to explore. The local cuisine is health conscious and utilizes many of the local produce and fruits the lush environment provides.
Oahu
Home to the capital city of Honolulu, this island offers a unique contrast between bustling city life and tropical oasis that make it a popular destination for tourists. The local cuisine is very international and diverse.
Big Island
Known for its vast land, this island is famous for its production of coffee and other produce. Notably the region of Kona. The big island offers a chance to witness active volcanoes and explore the rich history of the islands.
